Emmerdale actress Sammy Winward has decided to leave the popular soap.
According to reports, Sammy announced her decision to quit after filming a Christmas storyline which sees her character Katie Addyman remarry Andy Sugden, played by Kelvin Fletcher.
Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Sammy is the Michelle Keegan of Emmerdale so everyone is gutted that she’s leaving.
“She’s hugely popular and her character has been a big part in the show overtaking EastEnders.

It is believed that Sammy will leave the show next year but the source said that show bosses have not yet decided on an exit storyline for Katie.
“The producers haven’t decided yet. Emmerdale love a big death because it’s great for their ratings” added the source.
Twenty nine-year-old Sammy has played Katie since July 2001.
She took time off from the soap in 2005 to give birth to her daughter Mia and returned in 2006.
