Emmerdale actress announces that she is expecting her first child

Congratulations are in order for the Emmerdale star.

Roxy Shahidi has revealed that she is pregnant with her first child. The actress who plays Leyla on the soap confirmed the news this week that she is pregnant with a baby girl. Sharing the news with OK! Magazine, Roxy said:

“To be honest, I was absolutely terrified when I saw the test was positive. “I burst into tears.”

The actress also revealed that the pregnancy came as somewhat of a surprise after only trying for a few weeks.

“We had only been trying for a few weeks and I was sure it was going to take us much longer. “It took a few weeks before I got my head around it but, once I did, I was filled with joy.”

The Emmerdale star also said that one of her co-stars had already told her she believed her to be pregnant.

“It’s weird as Charley actually told me she thought I was pregnant before I did the test,” speaking of the actress who plays Debbie Dingle on the show. “We had been working together and she called me when I got home and said my boobs gave it away.”

This is the first child for Roxy and her husband, Arsher Ali, who say they already have a name chosen for their little girl.
