This makes us really angry.

Seriously.

Elizabeth Banks has spoken about why she was rejected for the role of Mary-Jane in Spiderman, which was later given to Kirsten Dunst.

Hunger Games actress made the comments in a recent interview with Glamour magazine, explaining that it was a case of ageism.

Elizabeth, who is 42 years old, said:

“I screen-tested for the role of Mary-Jane Watson in the first Spider-Man movie, opposite Tobey Maguire.

“Tobey and I are basically the same age – and I was told I was too old to play her. I’m like, ‘Oh OK, that’s what I’ve signed up for.'”

Thankfully, Elizabeth hasn’t let the fact that the part went to someone eight years younger bother her at all.

Chatting to the publication, she said that having a career with longevity is what’s important to her personally.

“What I’m grateful for now is longevity. I was never a flavour of the month. I feel very comfortable that I will be working in this industry for a while”.
