There’s a new Carrington in town.
Well, kind of.
Daniella Alonso will be joining season three of The CW’s Dynasty as the new Cristal Jennings.
TVLine report she will be taking over the role from Ana Brenda Contreras, who played the character in season two.
Executive producer/showrunner Josh Reims told the publication:
“Unfortunately, Ana Brenda Contreras will not be returning for the third season of Dynasty due to personal reasons.
“We’d like to thank her for her contributions to the show and wish her all the best. We’re excited to welcome Daniella Alonso who will step into the role of Cristal.”
Alonso has previously starred in Friday Night Lights, One Tree Hill, Criminal Minds, Animal Kingdom and The Resident.
Her departure comes after a number of other casting shakeups, including Nicolette Sheridan, James Mackay and Nathalie Kelley.
Ana Brenda Contreras had joined the second season of the series as the ‘real Cristal’, Cristal Jennings.
Meanwhile, Nathalie Kelley, who played Fallon and Steven’s stepmother Cristal Carrington, previously confirmed that she wouldn’t be back for season two.
Mackay, who played Steven Carrington, announced his departure after his character left for Paraguay in an episode airing in November last year.
And Nicolette Sheridan announced mid-way through season two that she would be leaving the series to “focus on some personal family responsibilities.”
The new season of Dynasty debuts on October 11 in North America.
