This is the dream for date night!
Many folks in Dublin will know the iconic Stella theatre in Rathmines, but we haven’t had the chance to step inside it for 10 years.
The Stella cinema first opened in 1923 and according to 98 FM, Theatre Director Karl Geraghty said;
“It’s an incredible place in terms of cinema history, but also important in terms of architecture.
“It’s got history for days, and has just been a really great project to be a part of.”
The venues restoration means it now features a gold lobby (how lavish), comfy dark red seating, along with small wooden tables with dimmed lighting for us movie go-ers to leave our fancy cocktails on. Yes, you read correct.
Each seat has an ottoman which is there for tired legs to stretch out on and take a rest. There are also cashmere blankets for an extra cosy feel.
Those who nab a ticket for the front row won’t have seats at all – but rather loungers with table service. Nice.
You could order your usual popcorn and Coke, but why not have some risotto, buttermilk chicken tenders, oodles of fancy snacks plus a cocktail of your choice from their superb selection. *currently drooling*
Oh, but wait… that’s not all. There’s also the Stella Cocktail Bar which boasts velvet interiors and an outdoor terrace. Ok, we’re sold.
Of course, watching movies in this place is going to cost you a little more… standard tickets are €19 but at least the kids can go to their movies at the weekends for just €8. The gorgeous Stella cinema is set to open its doors to the public on 31 October.
We’re not sure what film they’ll be showing on their velvet curtained cinema stage just yet, but you can help decide on their Facebook campaign here.
