The court date is set for next month.
Dylan Kwabena Mills, who performs under the name Dizzee Rascal, has been charged with assault.
Metropolitan Police have said that a woman reported minor injuries during an alleged incident which took place on 8 June at a residential address in south London.
According to police, the woman did not require treatment in hospital.
The rapper will face charges at Croydon Magistrates Court in the UK on Friday 3 September.
In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: “Dylan Mills, 36 of Sevenoaks, Kent, has been charged with assault after an incident at a residential address in Streatham on June 8.
“Officers attended and a woman reported minor injuries. She did not require hospital treatment.”
They added: “Mills is due to appear at Croydon’s Magistrates’ Court on Friday September 3.”
Dizzee shot to fame following the release of his debut album Boy in da Corner in 2003. The grime record earned him the Mercury Prize when he was just 18.
Since then, Dizzee has been releasing new music and performing around the world. His follow-up albums Showtime, Maths + English and Tongue n’ Cheek all went platinum.
The rapper’s website states that he will be performing at four upcoming events later this month.
Dizzee is billed to perform three dates in London and one date in Lydiard Park in Swindon.
