Desperate Housewives writer says staff avoided Teri Hatcher in new book

The show came to an end in 2012 after eight seasons.

One of the writers of the hit ABC series, Desperate Housewives, has revealed that staff would avoid making eye contact with one the shows leading actress’, Teri Hatcher.

Patty Lin, who worked on season one of the show, discussed some behind the scene tensions in her new book ‘End Credits: How I Broke Up With Hollywood.’

This comes following claims that creator Marc Cherry made in 2019 that alluded to Hatcher’s ‘big behavioural problems.’

Lin alleges in her new book that ‘writers weren’t barred from the set’ but ‘weren’t exactly welcome.’

“Usually we’d only see the cast at table reads, where we’d sit quietly in the back and try not to make eye contact with Teri Hatcher,” she writes.

Lin, however, does not elaborate as to why staffers were avoiding making eye contact with Hatcher.

According to Page Six, in 2019, Marc Cherry, in a legal letter in support of Felicity Huffman – who was awaiting sentencing for the college admissions scandal at the time –  said that Huffman was polite to a big star who ‘displayed big behavioural problems’ on set of the show.

“Everyone tried their darnedest to get along with this woman over the course of the show. It was impossible,” Cherry’s letter read — without naming the actress.

“And things went from bad to worse. Felicity still insisted on saying, ‘Good morning’ to this actress, even though she knew she wouldn’t get a response. I found out about this and asked Felicity about it.”

The creator added that this unnamed actress was ‘determined to be rude.’

Lin only worked on the Desperate Housewives set for the first season as she and two others were fired when season one came to an end – something she says was ‘no surprise.’

“I knew our days were numbered. I had to remind myself over and over that I hated this job and wanted out.”
