Could Melissa McCarthy Actually Be Returning To Gilmore Girls?

We are all very excited about the upcoming Gilmore Girls revival, but were a little bit devastated to learn that Melissa McCarthy was apparently not invited to take part in the 4-episode Netflix project. However, this latest development spotted by Refinery29 may be of interest. Yes, that is Yanic Truesdale aka Michel out for dinner with McCarthy. We know, the caption even tells us not to read into it but we just can't help it.

Scotch, great meal and catching up with my old friend @melissamccarthy, can't ask for more! Dont read anything into it guys.

Even though this link seems tenuous, we are hopeful because McCarthy posted a photo of herself visiting Los Angeles, where the revival is currently being shot.

All we know is we would love to see Sookie back, as would show creator Amy Sherman Palladino: “She’s really f—ing busy, But the thing I have said [to her team] is, ‘Look, if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I’ll write her a scene. Melissa was one of us. If she has a spare moment to run over [to the set] — even if for just a cameo — we would be totally game. And if it’s a last-minute thing, I would write her in and we would figure it out. That’s the way we left it.”
