Actor Johnny Depp has been confirmed for the sequel of the Disney live-action version of Alice in Wonderland.
Disney has also announced the return of Mia Wasikowska who will reprise her role as Alice in the adaptation of the Lewis Carroll story.
It is not known if Wasikowska’s co-stars Anne Hathaway or Helena Bonham Carter will be in the new production.
Director Tim Burton will not be returning for the sequel and has been replaced by “The Muppets” director James Bobin.
Jennifer Todd, Joe Roth and Suzanne Todd will be producing the film. Alice in Wonderland 2 is set for a May 27th, 2016 release.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first movie grossed $1.02 billion at the box office back in 2010.
