Bridgerton season two: 3 things we learned from the new trailer

Sarah McKenna Barry

This is going to be juicy.

The first glimpse for the highly anticipated second season of Bridgerton dropped over the weekend, and it’s safe to say that we’re excited.

Rather than a full trailer, Netflix shared a short scene from the series and wrote: “Dear readers, this author is most pleased to bring you a first glimpse into the upcoming social season, and even more delighted to introduce you to Miss Kate Sharma.”

In it, Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) meets newcomer Kate Sharma (Sex Education’s Simone Ashley) for the first time outside of a ball, and it seems they get off to a rocky start. While the scene is short enough, it was quite revealing of the season generally. So, with that being said, here are three things we learnt from the Bridgerton sneak peak.

1. A larger role for Anthony Bridgerton

Season two will see Daphne’s older brother move firmly into the limelight as the show’s leading man. In the first installment, we got to know him a little, but his character will develop more fully in the upcoming season as he attempts to woo Kate Sharma. However, judging by this initial clip, he has a lot of work to do.

2. There’s a new leading lady in town

In this first glimpse, we get to meet Kate Sharma, and we’re already in love with her. Billed as being smart and headstrong, Kate suffers no fools, which hopefully means this season will be packed to the brim with drama and witty one-liners. We can’t wait.

3. A release date

While we don’t have an exact release date just yet, Netflix did confirm that season two of Bridgerton will be released in 2022, and we have our fingers crossed that it will drop sooner rather than later. Until then, you can find us giving the first season a thorough re-watch.
