Legendary British actor Alan Rickman has died in London following a battle with cancer.
The news was confirmed to The Guardian by his family today.
An accomplished stage and film actor over several decades, he appeared in films such as Die Hard and Love Actually. Rickman found a new group of fans as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter film series.
The actor had won BAFTA, Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards, and is survived by his wife Rina Horton.
