Birdman scooped a total of four awards, seeing off the likes of Boyhood and American Sniper for Best Picture.
It also claimed Best Original Screenplay while director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu was named Best Director.
Birdman won four awards in total.
Julianne Moore was also celebrating as she collected the Best Actress Oscar (her first) for her role in Still Alice.

Patricia Arquette claimed the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Boyhood while JK Simmons won the male equivalent for Whiplash.
Other winners included The Imitation Game (Adapted Screenplay), The Grand Budapest Hotel (Original Score), Big Hero 6 (Animated Feature Film) and Selma (Original Song for Glory).
