A crying shame.
Chambers has been cancelled after one season on Netflix so be still our broken hearts. And our transplanted ones.
The horror/thriller/drama dropped onto the streaming platform a few months back to much excitement and anticipation.
This was unfortunately damped by the fact that the show sort of runs off with itself halfway through the season making what could have been a genuinely insightful horror just a bit stupid.
But sure look, we still binged every episode of it over the course of one day so we were fairly sad to hear that the show wouldn’t be returning for a second season.
Or relieved, who can say for sure?
Netflix released a statement this week saying the show had been cancelled.
“Chambers will not return for a second season,” they said.
“We’re grateful to creator and showrunner Leah Rachel for bringing this story to us and to her fellow executive producers Alfonso Gomez Rejon, Steve Gaghan from Super Emotional, Winnie Kemp and Wolfgang Hammer from Super Deluxe, and Jennifer Yale.
“We’re also thankful to the tireless crew, and to our incredible cast, especially Uma Thurman, Tony Goldwyn and talented newcomer Sivan Alyra Rose.”
Talented, indeed.
Despite the series’ interesting enough premise, Chambers was criticised for its depiction of transplants, the focus on virginity, and the fact that the plot completely loses the run of itself around episode four.
Kind of makes sense then that there won’t be any more of it on our screens.
Fair.
