Prepare to wince in pain watching this.
It’s fair to say 2016 was a rough year for most of us.
The year had plenty of ups and downs, what with Brexit, the US Presidential Election and of course, the deaths of numerous beloved celebrities.
Mariah Carey made headlines everywhere for her method of bidding farewell to 2016 which left both her fans and rivals more than unimpressed..
But while Mimi hit a bum note with her performance, there was another display of celebration that happened on New Year’s Eve which fell a little flat.
Spotted on the New Zealand Herald, presenters of music TV show The Loop on channel Eleven were more than excited to do the NYE countdown live alongside competition winners joining them in the studio.
Presenters Scott Tweedie and Olivia Phyland announced that winners of a competition were getting the chance to come in studio and count down into the New Year on camera, but little did they anticipate the anticlimactic presence the crowd would bring.
An extremely bored, unimpressed looking group of people shuffle into studio and barely count down into the New Year at all, as Scott and Olivia are left jumping up and down, trying to get the party started.
One girl is even seen throwing her party popper directly at Olivia before running off stage.
Viewers couldn’t believe the miserable people weren’t actors or even worse, hostages as they tweeted Scott for more information.
