Ariana Grande speaks about Pete Davidson split for the first time

After a whirlwind romance, news broke this week that Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson had called off their engagement after five months of dating. Yes, the pair shocked fans when they announced they were to be married back in May, just weeks after we learned they were dating, and now they’ve decided to call time of their relationship. With many taking to social media to share their commentary on the situation, Ariana herself has now finally addressed the news. Late last night, the singer took to Instagram to share a note with fans after a special evening celebrating the 15^th anniversary of her favourite musical, Wicked.

“OK today was v special,” she wrote. “I’m so grateful I was able to be there.”

The post went on to touch on the biggest news of the week - her split from Pete - with the singer announcing she’s taking a break from social media.

“Time to say bye bye again to the internet for just a little bit,” she wrote. “It’s hard not to bump news and stuff that I’m not trying to see right now. “It’s very sad and we’re all trying very hard to keep going. “Love you and thank you for being her always.”

The post has since been deleted from Ariana’s story. According to reports this morning, Ariana, 25, and Pete, 24, decided that it simply "wasn't the right time" for them to be together. Ariana, who has a song called 'Pete Davidson' on her recent album Sweetener, announced last week that she was taking a break from music to "take care of myself for a little while."
