Fair play to her.
Angela Scanlon has revealed that she will be the new host of The One Show on The BBC when the current host Alex Jones takes her maternity leave.
Alex is expecting her baby in the new year and will take maternity leave from January. Angela and BBC journalist Michelle Ackerley are both being drafted in for the show and will split the duties. Michelle will appear on Mondays and Tuesdays, with Angela covering Thursdays and Fridays.
They will both present alongside the current presenter Matt Baker.
Angela tweeted the good news earlier today saying, “So this is happening!! Chuffed to be sitting on the @BBCTheOneShow lime green couch while the fab @MissAlexjones has her bundle of joy.”

She also released a statement saying:
“I’m over the moon to get the chance to present one of my favourite shows on TV and I’m thrilled to be looking after Alex’s spot on the green sofa while she is away. I have always been a massive fan of The One Show and love being part of that wonderful family so I really can’t wait to get started.”
Dan McGolpin, BBC Controller of Daytime and Early-Peak added:
“In Michelle and Angela, we have two exciting and experienced presenters who have already proven themselves to be good fun when co-hosting with Matt. The One Show is made by a team of talented individuals both on-screen and off and I’m sure they will all want to join me in wishing Alex well on her maternity leave.”
