The news just keeps getting better for fans of Gilmore Girls.

In addition to four feature-length reunion specials coming to Netflix later this year, the streaming site has just announced that all seven series of the show will be available to watch in all parts of the world from this Friday, July 1.

The show’s leading lady, Lauren Graham [we’re not worthy], made the announcement in a video released earlier today.

Up until now the seven seasons have only been available on US Netflix, which was annoying to the rest of us fans around the world, but it ultimately worked out for the best: the availability of the show on the streaming service led to a whole new generation of viewers discovering the US comedy-drama, helping to create the momentum to bring back the show with its original cast and creators.

We don’t have a launch date as yet for the four new GG instalments, but the rumour is that they’ll arrive just in time for the run-up to Christmas. We do know that the episodes will be themed around the four seasons, and will likely be called ‘Spring’, ‘Summer’, ‘Fall’ and ‘Winter’.

However, whether or not Netflix will release them all on the same day is not yet certain. Show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is not in favour of the usual Netflix distribution model for the reunions. She told TVLine:

“My preference would be they would not be released at once, because I feel like there’s going to be anticipation, and I think the diehard fans would enjoy it more with a little separation. Because the last thing you want is for someone to jump to the last episode and [ruin] it for everybody — which I think would happen, quite frankly, in this day and age of binging. So my preference would be to release them at least a day apart. Let people get a little sunlight and go for a walk around the corner. [Laughs] We have not spoken to Netflix about it, so I don’t know what their thought process is yet. But we’re planning to throw it out there.”

Until then, we can just binge-watch all the existing episodes!(Yes, even season 7).
