He took over from the Muppets' creator Jim Henson, who originally voiced the role, in 1990 and has voiced the Kermit we all know and love.
There has been no indication or reason given as to why he has quit, but they've already found a replacement for him in Matt Vogel.
Vogel is set to appear in a video next week marking his first appearance as Kermit. He has already voiced Kermit's imitator Constantine in the film Muppets Most Wanted.
