A welcomed return.
The news a lot of Coronation Street fans were hoping for is finally here. Rosie Webster, who was played by Helen Flanagan, will return to the soap.
It’s been five years since we’ve seen Rosie on the cobbles but it’s just been revealed that she will be rejoining the show. According to Digital Spy, her storyline will tie in with her sister Sophie, played by Brooke Vincent, who will join her in Miami for a holiday, after which both will return home together.
While there isn’t an exact timeline it’s thought she will be back sometime next Spring.
Speaking about reprising the role Helen said, “I’m so excited to be returning to Coronation Street and being part of the Webster family again.”
Coronation Street producer Kate Oates said, “The Websters have missed Rosie and so have we. With Sophie away on holiday with her sister it seemed like the ideal time to bring Rosie back home with her for a visit. We are delighted that Helen is as keen explore what Rosie has been up to away from the cobbles as we are.”
Only a few months ago Helen spoke about wanting to rejoin the show telling the Loose Women panel that it was still an option but that it wouldn’t be a permanent return.
She said, “I would absolutely love to go back to Corrie, but I’d like to do a few episodes.
“I wouldn’t want to do anything permanently because I like being at home with [Matilda] and I think I would really miss that time – and I wouldn’t really want a nanny.
“So I’d love to do a few episodes – just do a little bit of work. I think that’s good for yourself as well, because it’s nice to have a bit of balance.”
