It was arguably the biggest split of last year but it’s only now that Tom Cruise has talked about his divorce from Katie Holmes.
The Hollywood actor, who is currently on the road promoting his latest flick Oblivion, opened up about the end of his marriage during a recent interview with German television station ProSieben.
The pair ended their five-year marriage last summer.
Tom admitted: “I didn’t expect it. I had an unbelievable amount of time to think about it. Life is a challenge.”
And the honesty didn’t stop there as he explained: “To be 50 and to have experiences and to think you have a grip on everything, and then it hits you – this is it, what life can do to you. Life is a tragic comedy. You need to have a sense of humour.”
Tom was in Dublin to promote his new sci-fi flick Oblivion.
Since their divorce last year the two stars, who also have a six-year-old daughter together, haven’t spoken about their relationship but then again they have been keeping themselves busy with work.
Tom has been making lots of movies, and of course getting to grips with his Irish roots, while Katie has been running between her now-finished Broadway play and fashion line.
