Helen Flanagan has set her sights on the stage, namely a role in a Shakespearean drama.

The former Corrie star said staying on the street for the rest of her life would have been “really strange”.

She told Digital Spy said she couldn’t have handled playing the character of Rosie Webster for the rest of her life.

“They’ve left the door open for me and I’m really grateful for that. But I was there for 12 years so I kind of want to find my own feet,” she said. “I would be really strange if I hadn’t left and stayed there for the rest of my life.”

The I’m A Celebrity contestant recently celebrated being named the UK’s sexiest woman by FHM.

Flanagan also said she would never give up modelling for the sake of her acting career but said she’d love to take part in a period drama “like Wuthering Heights” next.

She said: “There are lots of role I would like to play, I really like period dramas and things like that. Wuthering Heights, I’d love to do something like that. In the theatre, I’d love to play Romeo and Juliet.”
