From the start we’ve all been backing 16-year-old singing sensation Ella Henderson but in a shock move, the Adele wannabe found herself in the bottom two last night and was forced to fight for her place in the competition alongside early favourite James Arthur.
Following the sing-off where the talented vocalist sang Daniel Bedingfield’s If You’re Not the One, Ella’s mentor Tulisa spoke out to viewers saying that the public are “voting for the wrong people”.
The N-Dubz singer appeared to be furious that both acts were in the bottom two and hit out at viewers saying “These people should be finalists.”
James and Ella were forced to fight for their places in the competition
Unable to reach a majority vote – Tulisa and Louis saved Ella, Nicole and Gary chose James Arthur – the judges went to deadlock and the votes from the public became relevant once again.
Having received the fewest amount of votes, a composed Ella graciously accepted her defeat and thanked the show and all the contestants for their support. “This year, the talent on the show is incredible. Everyone deserves to be on this show. I wouldn’t be where I am now without this show.”
Tulisa joined her act on stage after she received the bad news
All four judges felt the two contestants would make it to the final and both Tulisa and Nicole admitted that they found it difficult to choose between the two acts but ultimately chose to save their own.
It may be the end of Ella’s X Factor journey but we have no doubt that she is one contestant who won’t fade into Panto-land obscurity or be appeareing on I’m a Celebrity to save a flagging career anytime soon.
