“Wish we were all together” – Vanessa Bryant finds unopened card written by husband Kobe before his death

It has been nearly four months since the basketball player died along with his daughter in a helicopter accident.

Vanessa Bryant, wife of the late Kobe Bryant, this week found a card written to her by her husband before he died. She shared her discovery on Instagram and told the public that the card was addressed: “To the Love of my Life. From, Tu Papi.”

She came across the card the day before her 38th birthday and decided to wait a day to open it because it “gave [her] something to look forward to”.

Kobe and Vanessa were due to celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary last month. The card included a picture of Vanessa with a drawing of an angel holding her up.

She wrote:

“Yesterday I found an envelope labeled To: The Love of my Life. From, To Papi. I waited to open one more letter on my birthday. It gave me something to look forward to today. The irony is that Kobe had a photo of me drawn with an Angel holding me up by an artist on the cover. Missing the Love of my Life and my sweet little Mamacita – my fellow Taurus. Grateful to wake up to my 3 sweet girls today. Wish we were all together.”

This comes about three and a half months after both her husband and 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, were killed in a helicopter accident in California. Gianna would have been celebrating her 14th birthday this May 1, just five days before her mother’s birthday. Vanessa marked the occasion with a tribute post to her “sweet baby girl”.
