Breaking Bad may be gone, but it’s still breaking records…

Last night the 66th annual Emmy Awards took place and almost a year after it went off air, Breaking Bad was the big winner, picking up the award for outstanding drama series for the second year in a row.

Star Bryan Cranston won for lead actor in a drama for his role as Walter White, while his co-stars  Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn picked up the best drama supporting gongs in their respective categories.

The Good Wife star Julianna Margulies won the Emmy for best lead actress in a drama series and in her speech remarked that it was “a wonderful time for women on television”.

Hit comedy Modern Family won a record-tying fifth Emmy for outstanding comedy series. Jim Parsons justified his recent pay rise by claiming the best comedy series actor nod for his role on The Big Bang Theory, while Julia Louis-Dreyfus received her third best comedy actress Emmy for Veep.

Best comedy supporting actor went to Ty Burrell for his role in Modern Family, and Allison Janney took best supporting comedy actress for breakout series Mom.
