Ben Affleck has slammed his previous relationship with Jennifer Lopez in a recent interview, calling it “annus horribilis” which translates as “a horrible year.”
The actor spoke to Details magazine about how his relationship with the pop singer turned talent show judge affected the public’s perception of him.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez dated back in 2003.
He said: “I got shorthanded as That Guy – Jennifer Lopez, movies bombed, therefore he must be a sort of thoughtless dilettante, solipsistic consumer, blah blah blah.” So it has nothing to do with the fact that he sounds like he is full of his own self-importance then!
But in all seriousness, we have to admit that we were wondering what a Hollywood star like Ben was doing releasing such tripe as Gigli and starring in his other half’s music videos.
After all we are talking about the man who helped to bring us Good Will Hunting and has proven his worth in recent years with films including The Town.
Speaking about the moment he decided that a life of being Bennifer wasn’t for him he explained: “I just said, ‘I don’t want to do it anymore.
“This is horrible. I don’t want to be in this spotlight, this glare, in this way. It’s tawdry, it’s ugly, it’s oppressive and it’s inane. So I’m going to try to get away.”
Ben is now married to Jennifer Garner and they have three children together.
And get away he did. Ben is now married to another Jennifer, that is, actress Jennifer Garner with whom he has three children.
As much as we love them as a couple and might sympathise with what Ben is saying, we still don’t think it’s good form to bad mouth an ex in public. Tell us, what do you think of his comments?
