U2 frontman Bono may have to undergo surgery following a cycling accident in New York over the weekend.
It has been reported that the singer injured his arm when he came off his bike in Central Park. This has resulted in the band having to cancel their week-long residency on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon which was due to start on Monday (17th November).
“It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time – we’re one man down,” read a statement on U2’s website. “Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it.
“We’re sure he’ll make a full recovery soon, so we’ll be back. Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding.”
Just last week, Bono had a lucky escape when the rear door on his private jet fell off mid-flight to Berlin in Germany.
No other details about the 54-year-old’s accident have been released.
Bono took part in the new Band Aid 30 Christmas single, which was released on the X Factor on Sunday evening.
