How do you avoid an awkward meeting with your ex? Well you could hide under the table in a restaurant, like Katy Perry did recently.
According to reports, Katy was out enjoying lunch with her new man John Mayer when her ex-husband, Russell Brand, randomly turned up at the same spot. Majorly awkward!
However, rather than saying hello to Russell or just ignoring him, Katy shocked her fellow diners by diving under the table and hiding there. Smooth.
“As soon as Katy saw Russell, she hid under the table. When he was directed to one far away, she emerged,” said a source, speaking to The Sun.
“John threw some money on the table and they headed to the back door and their waiting car. Russell didn’t seem to see a thing but everyone in the restaurant saw what happened,” the source added.

But ‘tablegate’ as it is being dubbed isn’t the first time that Katy and Russell have run into each other since their divorce was finalised back in July.
Over the summer, Katy and Russell were spotted sitting on opposite sides of the court at a LA Lakers basketball game. Although they were directly in each other’s line of vision, the former couple did not acknowledge one another.
Rumours are now rife that Katy’s run-in with Russell while she was trying to enjoy her lunch may have had a lasting effect on the singer, as she was snapped looking upset and hiding her face as she emerged from an airport after the incident.
