Until today we were unfamiliar with US TV programme ‘D.U.I.’ which as you can probably guess follows cops as they try to clamp down on crazy drunk drivers. The show premiered its second season in America last Thursday and we can’t wait to get home and try and source it out on the Internet! The show sounds right up our trashy television street. The media loves a DUI and celebrity gossip has been sprinkled with the odd drink driving scandal in the last few years. We’ve come up with a few bashful celebrities who have been busted in recent years.
Amanda Bynes
The former Nickelodeon star was busted in April 2012 after hitting a police car in West Hollywood at three o’clock in the morning. After refusing to take a breathalyser test Bynes was arrested and her case is ongoing. Last month, Amanda even tweeted US President Barack Obama protesting her innocence. She said “Hey @BarackObama… I don’t drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don’t hit and run. The end.”
Mischa Barton
The OC’s Marissa was driving under the influence of marijuana and other controlled substances in 2007. At the time Barton was also driving without a valid license, which did not help matters. The actress pleaded no contest to the charges and was sentences to three years probation. She said the arrest was a low point in her life.
Flo Rida
Last year, the American rapper and singer was arrested after cops pulled him over in his 1.7 million dollar red and black Bugatti. When breathalysed Flo Rida was found to be two times over the legal alcohol limit. The Whistle singer avoided jail though and instead was sentenced to partake in a DUI first time offender’s class.
Khloe Kardashian
In 2007, this Kardashian was busted for driving under the influence and was ordered her to attend a class for first time offenders. However Khloe did not bother going and the judge sentenced her to thirty days in prison. Khloe only spent three hours in jail though due to overcrowding issues. By the way, all of this was filmed for her show on E! Network. Classy.
Mel Gibson
In August 2006, Mel Gibson was pulled over on the highway by police and arrested for driving under the influence. He was speeding while holding an open container of alcohol. The Oscar Winning actor was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to attend self-help classes.
