Vogue Williams has bravely opened up about her past struggles
Discussing something as sensitive as disordered eating can be extremely vulnerable, but it can help raise awareness and make others feel less alone in their struggles.
In a new episode of My Therapist Ghosted Me, Vogue Williams discussed her personal history.
She explained that she would have tried “mental diets” when she was a teenager.
The mum-of-three said there’s so much pressure on young women to look a certain way.
She told her co-host Joanne McNally, “Since I was 16 there’s been that kind of thing of, now you have to do this to look like this. It can be quite full on, and for younger girls to have to look at that, it’s a bit of a nightmare.”
The mum said she struggled with disordered eating in the past because of that pressure.
“There’s always someone telling you to do something. I always think: train and eat as well as you can — there’s no way anyone can eat healthy all the time.
“But I used to do that bullsh*t, and it did make me have disordered eating,” she shared.
Vogue Williams said she would’ve restricted herself, but now has a healthier relationship with food and exercise.
The mum’s honesty will undoubtedly make many others who are struggling or have in the past feel less alone.
Speaking out about disordered eating on such a huge platform will help many in their own personal struggles.
