Niall Horan is over the moon as he reached a whopping seven million followers on Twitter yesterday.
The One Direction star is officially Ireland’s most popular tweeter.
He said he watched the Twitter account top the milestone number yesterday with his friend, One Direction guitarist Chris Leonard.
“Wey hey! Just got to 7 million followers! Me and @mrchrisleonard watched it turn to 7 mill [sic]! Thank you all so much for the support!” the Mullingar boy tweeted with delight.
The 19-year-old’s fan-base is growing fast as he reached the six million mark in August. If the cheeky Irish boy keeps up this rate he could be giving Gaga a run for her money soon.
Niall is the second most popular One D star on Twitter, only being eclipsed by friend Harry Styles, who has 7.4 million followers.
Bandmates Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson are trailing behind with 6.5 million and six million followers respectively.
Zayn Malik has a good way to go until he reaches the boys’ total, with six million site fans.
Niall can enjoy his status as Ireland’s most popular tweeter quite comfortably as the closest on his tail has only 1. 3 million followers, the world’s No 1 golfer Rory McIlroy.
Jedward take third place with a total of 706,000 followers.
Former Westlife star Nicky Byrne has 282,000 followers while Ronan Keating has 317,000.
It could be a long while until Niall reaches any of the world’s top tweeters though…
