Tom Hardy burned his throat when he bit into the hottest pepper on earth against the advice of his girlfriend.
The actor is known for his portrayal of tough characters and most recently starred as Bane in the latest Batman film alongside Christian Bale.

According to Esquire magazine, The Dark Knight Rises actor decided to dig into a Scotch Bonnet chilli pepper after his girlfriend told him they were unbearably hot.
“My ex was cooking and I saw these sweet peppers on the side. I was like, ‘What are these?’ She said, ‘Don’t touch those. Those are Scotch Bonnets.’ Y’know when women can be knowing? It immediately brings out the ‘f**k you’ in me.
“She said, ‘It is the hottest chilli known to man.’ At which point, I was like, ‘Yeah? Well, f**k ’em!’
“I bit into one. And it was like a f**king Harrier jet took off in my mouth and just napalmed my throat, my eyes, my nose. My face f**king blew up,” he said.

After gobbling the pepper Hardy was desperate to calm the heat in his throat and was not prepared for his girlfriend’s solution.
“‘F**king Jesus Christ! How do I stop this?’ She said, ‘You drink beer.’ I’ve been sober for ten years. I was like, ‘Is there? any? other? way?’ I was crawling on the floor. She was absolutely right. Stay away from the Scotch bonnets,” he warned.
It just goes to show that us girls are ALWAYS right.
