Supermodel Gisele Bundchen led tributes today to a young teen fashion blogger, who lost a three-year battle with cancer today.
Karina Xavier, blogger of Chic by Karina, was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2011 aged 13, but continued to pursue her dream of becoming a make-up artist. The young fashion-lover shared posts and video tutorials on her blog, which gained her thousands of fans – as well as some very famous faces.
Karina, who was born in Brazil but grew up in Boston, grew a dedicated fan-base, using her blog to document her cancer but remaining upbeat and positive in her posts. Speaking to the Boston Globe, the teen said:
“So my life right now is lemons because I have cancer. But I made it a lemonade with my blog. I made it more sweet.”
Karina, passed away on Thursday morning following updates from her family that she had difficulty breathing late in Wednesday night.
Amongst tributes from fans, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen posted a snap of the pair together, with the caption:
“Last year I met a special girl, she inspired me and so many others with her strength, positivity and love for life. Today she became an angel. RIP @chicbykarina. Sending all my love to her family.”
