Ever since he started stepping out with Kim Kardashian, we’ve all been seeing a lot of Kanye West, but is his scarily-intense relationship with the reality TV star actually ruining his career?
According to the New York Daily News, Kanye has plummeted in terms of popularity and his career has been negatively affected by his relationship with Kim and, not surprisingly, Kanye is not happy about it.
Kanye, who has made a few cameos in Kim’s reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, is said to be experiencing the downside of overexposure.
“His personal life is overpowering his music. Every time he plays, people are wondering if Kim is going to be there. It’s not a good thing for him, especially if he wants to be taking seriously,” said an industry source speaking to the New York Daily News.
The source claimed that Kanye never wanted to be part of Kim’s world, but that she pressured him into it for the sake of her own career.
“He made it clear to her he doesn’t want to be on her show, but Kim gets upset so he caves in,” said the source.
Kanye’s career is said to be suffering because of his relationship with Kim
Kanye, who is used to receiving massive amounts of cash for making solo appearances at parties, is also said to be fuming after he received offers to host a string of New Year’s Eve bashes but he would only get the gigs if Kim appeared alongside him.
Meanwhile, Kanye’s ticket sales are seriously starting to suffer as a result. One ticket broker told the paper that Kanye’s upcoming shows were “not close to being sold out” and another source stated that “half the audience got up to go to the bathroom” when West performed at the Hurricane Sandy Benefit Concert in New York earlier this month.
“He has been meeting with top-level music executives seeking advice. He’s not happy with the direction things have been going,” said a source.
Failing to sell tickets, bad press, getting looked over when it comes to party invites? Yeah, we can’t say we blame him. Do you think Kanye’s romance with Kim is having a negative impact on his career?
