The highest paid Game of Thrones star just got even richer

It's dangerous work, but the pay ain't half bad.

If you can survive battles, backstabbings, Whitewalkers and wildfire in Westeros, then you could be bang in the money. Season Six of Game of Thrones culminated in some serious deaths, but for the characters that survived another bloodthirsty series it's proved to be a nice little pay day. Reports from Deadline are that HBO has bumped up the wages of some of the show's best-loved characters. According to the site, the likes of Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Emilia Clarke(Daenerys Targaryen) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) were all on around $300,000 per episode when contracts were renegotiated back in 2014. But they've seen their pay bumped up to a cool $500,000 per episode for Seasons 7 and 8 of the global hit show. The Daily Star reports from GoT sources that Emilia Clarke, who plays 'The Mother of Dragons', has been given the biggest raise of them all - making her the highest-paid star on the show. The paper reports that she pulls in £200,000 a week - putting her ahead of even Jon Snow, everyone's favourite back-from-the-dead bastard. A show source told the Star: "Producers know she's one of the reasons the show is so popular so they went all out to keep her. "She's been pretty open with the other actors about her big pay rise. They're all a bit jealous she's now getting more than everyone else." Fans believe it might give an indication of who is appearing in both series 7 and 8, which are expected to be the final 13 episodes to be made. It doesn't guarantee that they will survive right until the death (no pun intended) but for the likes of other mainstays like Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) or Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) who have yet to be re-signed, they must be sweating.
