TV show host Cilla Black is to receive a special BAFTA celebrating her 50 year long entertainment career.
Black’s first claim to fame was in 1964 when she released the number one hits Anyone Who Had a Heart and You’re My World.
“I am thrilled to be honoured with this award – I am totally delighted” she said of the award. “I’ve been very fortunate to have a long and full career in television and this means the world to me”.
Cilla Black hosted own primetime series in 1968, before presenting Blind Date and Surprise Surprise in the 1980s and 1990s.
BAFTA will be presenting her with a special recognition honour at their annual TV awards ceremony on the May 18th.
Previous recipients include Simon Cowell and journalist Jon Snow.
