Spencer Matthews is opening up about his issues with alcohol

The dad-of-three has discussed his issues with drinking in the past but opened up about how it affected his relationship with Vogue.

On the Untapped podcast, the dad said he used to hide his problems from his wife.

He explained that he started drinking every single day but lied about it at the beginning.

"I was drinking every single day, often to excess, often early in the day, often lying about it.

"Vogue would be like “have you had a drink today?” and I’d be like “why are you saying that?” when I had [been drinking].

"It’s a really shameful place to be and once you realise that, you realise you’re wrong, and you realise that it isn’t admirable or healthy, it’s not good, it’s unbecoming," he added.

Spencer said it's incredibly difficult to get your life back on track, but he managed to do it.

"You are then able to look at things and take action and if you choose to be, you can exercise a bit of responsibility and try and get yourself back on track, it’s quite a difficult thing sometimes, but I did that."

Spencer quit drinking alcohol in 2018 but stressed that he is sober most of the time now.

"I am sober most of the time, I’m not saying it as a badge, like “I am a sober person. Physically, I’m sober most of the time," he told Bristol Live at the time.
