Former Eastenders star Dean Gaffney is in hospital with serious injuries following a car crash late last night.
The actor, best known for playing Robbie Jackson in the popular soap, suffered head injuries after his car hit the central reservation on the Derbyshire Road.
Dean was involved in a serious car crash on his way home last night.
A spokeswoman for Derbyshire police told reporters: “We can confirm that a 34-year-old man was involved in a collision on the A38 at around 10.45pm last night. There was just one car involved that hit the central reservation.
“He was taken to Royal Derby Hospital where he received treatment for head injuries but those injuries aren’t thought to be life-threatening,” she added.
The actor is best known for Eastenders but has also starred in Extras.
According to reports Dean was driving home from the Derby Theatre and was said to be in a critical condition. Today his manager Dave Read confirmed on Twitter that the father-of-two was in the crash but that he is okay and now recovering.
Fans and fellow celebrities also took to the social media site to show their support. Blue singer Simon Webbe wrote: “On another not please say a prayer for a friend of ours Dean Gaffney who is fighting for his life right now [sic].”
