It has been confirmed that Sinéad O’Connor’s funeral will take place on Tuesday, August 8th.
The legendary singer was sadly found unresponsive in her flat in south-east London last Wednesday aged just 56.
Sinéad’s family has now confirmed that her funeral will be taking place in Ireland on Tuesday, with friends, family and fans all getting the opportunity to pay their respects.
The funeral is set to take place from 10.30am and will see her funeral cortege will progress along the seafront in Bray, Co. Wicklow.
The procession will then move past her tome on Montobello, Strand Road in Bray, where Sinéad lived for 15 years.
The route is set to begin on the Harbor Bar end of Strand Road and will then continue along to the other end by the seafront.
The family is then set to continue on for a private burial.
Sinéad’s family released a statement today confirming the funeral details, revealing how the Nothing Compares 2 U singer “loved” living in Bray.
The statement read: “With this procession, her family would like to acknowledge the outpouring of love for her from the people of Co. Wicklow and beyond, since she left last week, to go to another place.
“Slán leat – Me a go – ‘Ma’a salama.”
An Gardaí Siochána have asked that those who are planning on attending to arrive at 10.30am along Bray seafront.
The singer was found unresponsive at her home in London on Wednesday July 26th, with police saying her death is not being treated as suspicious.
“The results of this may not be available for several weeks”, police said in a statement.
“The decision whether an inquest will be needed will be decided when these results are known and submissions have been heard from the family.”
