Simon Cowell Responds To ‘Antiquated’ Questioning Of His Sexuality

Simon Cowell has responded to suggestions that he is gay which were made during the now collapsed drugs trial of Tulisa Contostavlos.

The claims, which were made by Tulisa’s PA during a video recording played to the court last week, resulted in the X-Factor boss’ sexuality being brought into speculation.

Lawyers for the music mogul has issued a statement following the collapse of the trial to address the “widespread media coverage of untrue claims regarding his private life”.

The statement added:

“In 2014 the question of whether someone is or is not gay is antiquated (As it happens he isn’t, though if he were, he would simply have said so).

“However, the issue was the false suggestion made by Mr Varey that Simon — who is renowned for his honesty and candidness — had thus not been truthful in the public arena and this is what we have been obliged to clarify.”

The statement was released just hours after the controversial drugs trial was thrown out at Southwark Crown Court yesterday. The judge Alistair McCreath told the jury:

“There are strong grounds for believing Mr Mahmood told me lies”.
