Síle Seoige has decided to stop sharing photos of her children online
Mum-of-two Síle Seoige has opened up about her decision to stop posting about her children online.
Following her daughter’s third birthday, the presenter explained that she would no longer show her daughter’s full face online.
The mum did the same when her son Cathal turned three years old.
She explained her decision on Instagram: “Clíodhna is a happy, independent, and bright little girl who has her whole life ahead of her, and now that she’s 3, we’ll no longer show her full face on my social media accounts.”
“We did the same thing with our son Cathal. His 3rd birthday was the last time I showed his full face on my page, and it felt right,” the mum said.
Síle said it’s a bittersweet feeling but it’s the right thing for her family to do.
“Of course, it’s bittersweet, as we adore our kids, and we want to show them off, but we feel this is the right thing to do for our family. This is said without any judgement whatsoever, by the way,” she stressed.
The podcast host said she felt conflicted about the decision when her son Cathal was younger.
However, she wants her children to have “as normal a childhood as possible”.
“What I have learnt is that ‘you’re damned if you do, and damned if you don’t’ so you have to do whatever is right for you and your family.
“Our thinking (whether you agree with it or not) is that for the first few years…baby/toddler faces change as they grow and develop but the older they get, the more they settle into their face and become easily recognisable.
“The more you learn about the online world, the less you want to share anyway, so here we are again.”
The mum will still post ‘back of the head’ shots and the odd side profile ones of her children.
