Over the past few weeks, various people have gotten involved in the Robert Pattinson/Kristen Stewart cheating scandal. So who’s the latest person to wade into the drama? Well, it’s Bill Condon – the director of the Twilight films.
The Irish Independent reports that Bill Condon has called for Twilight fans to show some “respect” to Robert and Kristen in the wake of Kristen’s shocking confession that yes, she was cheating on Rob with Rupert Sanders, the married director of her latest film Snow White and the Huntsman.
Bill has said that fans should be willing to leave the former couple alone and in peace while the work through their issues.
“The fact is, these are actors playing parts, and maybe it’s not such a bad thing that people be reminded of that…Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the Twilight movies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon,” said Bill, speaking to Entertainment Weekly.
“Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it’s time that some of that respect be returned to them,” he added.
Since the news of Kristen’s affair broke, both stars have been keeping a low profile. While Kristen has been spotted out and about in Los Angeles, Robert is believed to be staying at Reese Witherspoon’s ranch in Ojai, California.
It was revealed earlier this week that R-Patz is set to make his first public appearance on Good Morning America next Wednesday, and everyone is wondering if the actor will address the breakdown of his relationship to K-Stew.
Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart has reportedly cancelled her first appearance in public since the scandal became public knowledge.
K-Stew was supposed to be appearing on the red carpet for her new film On The Road, however according to reports, the actress is so distraught over her break-up that she’s too ashamed to show her face.
“Kristen won’t be doing the red carpet for ‘On the Road’ – she’s too ashamed to show her face in public right now,” said a source, speaking to RadarOnline.
“There’s also the dilemma of standing next to her co-star in the movie, Tom Sturridge. He’s very close to Rob and Kristen thinks it would be awkward for her to promote the movie on the red carpet alongside him,” the source added.
Hmm…now maybe we’re just being overly suspicious about the entire thing, but could Kristen’s cold feet have anything to do with the fact that Rob will be giving his first interview the day before she takes to the red carpet for On The Road?
“Kristen is very proud of her work for ‘On The Road’, she grew up reading Kerouac novels and this is a production she always wanted to star in. If she appears at the London premiere, it will detract people from the movie itself and Kristen doesn’t want that at all,” the source added.
So will Rob speak out about Kristen’s cheating and will Kristen actually show her face in public soon enough? Only time will tell…
