Singer Myleene Klass has found herself the centre of controversy this week after she angered parents at her daughter’s school.
The presenter annoyed parents at the £5,000-a-term school when she posted comments about a mother who had asked for donations for her daughter’s birthday gifts.
Myleene stated that she had received ‘bonkers’ emails from parents at the school.
Posting the text of the email online, Myleene changed the names before writing: “Jane and Hannah would prefer a class birthday gift for their daughters this year.
“Sarah would like a Kindle and Lola a desk (very studious choices!!) so if you would like to join in, please can I collect a suggested £10 from you before the party on February 9th,” it read, adding that donations could be put into the children’s schoolbags.”
Myleene then posted her reply, stating that her daughter Ava would like a unicorn for her birthday present and advised the parents of where they could donate.
Many of her followers agreed with her point of view, while a number of parents at the school were outraged that she had posted the messages.
“She has betrayed our confidences and belittled us so publicly. Lots of people have complained,” said one mother.
Another added, “She has really p***ed everyone off. It is so out of order. She isn’t going to have any friends left and we are the ones she relies on to pick up her daughter for her when she is late.”
Other parents defended the idea, adding that it would be cheaper for parents to club together in order to buy the gift.
Meanwhile yet another angry parent stated that the emails were in fact old and that Myleene was merely looking for attention.
“These are old class emails from a year ago,” they said. “We have all noticed that the paparazzi are no longer outside the school taking her picture like they used to be every morning. Perhaps she needed to get some attention.”
