Sharon Horgan gives seeringly honest update on Bad Sisters sequel

She made the comments at the IFTAs on Sunday night where the series she co-created picked up four awards.

Apple TV+ Irish series Bad Sisters was one of the big winners at Sunday night's IFTA awards, picking up four prizes including Best Drama Series. In the run-up to the ceremony, we chatted with its co-creator and star Sharon Horgan - who also won in the Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series category - about the show, which follows four tight-knit sisters that plot to kill their other sister's abusive husband. Given the black comedy-drama has already been renewed for a second season, we asked the writer how prep for the sophomore batch of episodes is going. In a delightfully candid response, she said:

"Oh god, it's like writing anything, it's up and down. I was really enjoying it and now I'm like, I've hit a hard bit. "For the most part, it's really fun but then there's a lot of characters and a lot of story and a bit of pressure and there's just not enough time. TV moves really quick. It takes so long to make it. So, you have to write quickly, which is a pain."

https://twitter.com/JOEdotie/status/1655307824212193281 At the IFTAs, Bad Sisters also won in the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama category - with Anne-Marie Duff picking up the trophy - and in the Best Director in a Drama Series category - with Dearbhla Walsh coming out victorious. Back when it premiered last August, JOE's entertainment editor Rory Cashin praised the show, stating in his review:

"The dynamics between the five sisters is astoundingly spot-on, all short-hand conversations and mountainous meanings communicated in glances, and it all feels profoundly Irish; that mixture of both sometimes hating your siblings, but knowing you'll drop everything at a second's warning should they really need you."
