Selena Gomez’s new song turns heads after she’s linked to British DJ

Jody Coffey

We are so ready.

Finally! It has been confirmed that new music from Selena Gomez is on its way.

Her new single called ‘Single Soon’ is said to be a female empowerment/break-up anthem, and, we anticipate, the Autumn equivalent to Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers.’

Fans of the former Disney actress, 31, won’t have long more to wait as ‘Single Soon’ will be released in just over two weeks on August 25th, according to The Sun.

This will be the singer’s first record since her album Rare, which was released in 2020.

‘Single Soon’ will be the lead song to her fourth album, which, for now, remains untitled.

Selena, in true Taylor Swift style, has been dropping Easter eggs for her fans on the lead up to its release.

In Texas, signs were posted with the words “Single Soon?” written across them, along with a phone number and a website address.

One click away on the website, the single’s name once again greets you in an orange and white mystery.

However, calling the phone number gives a little bit more away.

She says: “Hi, I love you sissy, never worry about boyfriends at all,” and a beat begins the play right after she’s finished speaking.

Keeping with the tone, lyrics in a now-viral SoundCloud clip features Selena singing: “I know he’ll be a mess when I break the news, but I’ll be single soon, I’ll be single soon.”

However, while we are over the moon about the long-awaited release of Selena music, we can’t help but wonder what the nameless album has in store for us.

Last year in an interview with the Rolling Stone, the Murders in the Building actress divulged that the album is inspired by “fun stories of me living my life and going on dates and having conversations with myself.”

RE-LATE-ABLE.

The Lose You to Love Me songstress recently sparked rumours she was dating popular British DJ, Frederick John Philip Gibson, a.k.a Fred Again.

After Selena posted a selfie of the two together, Selenators were quick to conspire that either they have struck up a romance or were working on a collaboration.

They pair were also reportedly spotted on a dinner date in L.A., according to a TikTok user who posted a tip-off sent to Deux Moi.

However, an eye-witness to the dinner-date told Entertainment Tonight that it looked strictly platonic, so, who knows?

Whether the pairs hang-outs are business or pleasure remains to be seen.

If true, is Selena preempting their spilt? Is the song title a play on how soon the single will be released? Is there a secret code or deeper meaning waiting to be solved within the song lyrics?

This is us right now contemplating it all…
