Well, here’s something we definitely didn’t expect to happen. Apparently Cheryl Cole has slapped the US X-Factor with a $2.3million lawsuit. We can only imagine how Simon Cowell is taking the news…
The Sunday World reports that Cheryl has already been paid her full $1.8million salary for the first season of the show, despite the fact that she only appeared on the programme three times before she was replaced by Nicole Scherzinger.
But in her lawsuit, the Girls Aloud singer is claiming that she had a special ‘pay or play’ deal that entitles her to full compensation for the second season of the show is well.
Cheryl is reported to have filed her lawsuit on Friday afternoon at a Los Angeles Superior Court. She is claiming that she is owed $2million in salary, plus a $100,000 wardrobe allowance, a $25,000 stylist allowance, a $15,000-a-month apartment allowance and a $2,5000-a-month living allowance.
The singer also reportedly wants the X-Factor’s production company to reimburse her for “personal security expenses” and expenses for first class travel to and from LA.
Cheryl is now reported to be on Simon’s “persona non grata” list. Uh-oh.
“Any hopes Cheryl might have harboured of one day returning to the judge’s panel in England are now as dead as the wannabes who have been booted out over the years,” said a source close to Simon Cowell.
“Simon believes she has timed this to achieve maximum public damage and, as far as he’s concerned, she is now persona non grata whatever the outcome of the case,” the source added.
Yikes, we imagine that’s Cheryl firmly struck off Simon’s Christmas card list this year!
