Say It Isn’t So! Girlband Announce Split After Sell Out Concerts

We think they shouldn’t be aloud...

They’ve just enjoyed a series of successful sell out concerts across the UK and Ireland, but Girls Aloud have announced that they are officially splitting.

Taking to the stage last night in Liverpool, the five-piece decided to break the news to their audience and confirmed that their time as a group has come to an end.

They then took to their Twitter page to confirm the news. They tweeted: ‘Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!! This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade.

What a difference ten years makes…

‘It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!! Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together. Love you lots.’

Their tour Ten: The Hits Tour, came ten years after the girls first got together on TV show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.

However, sales of their last album Ten have been disappointing thus far, so maybe their chart position had a part to play in the decision to split.

One things for sure – it’s the end of an era for anyone who is old enough to remember dancing to Sound Of The Underground on dancefloors across the country…
