“We’re genuine friends”
Saoirse Ronan has opened up about the special friendship she developed with co-star Paul Mescal.
The pair filmed the science fiction thriller Foe in Australia last year and grew close following the shoot.
Speaking to Grace Coddington in Document, the Lady Bird star praised Oscar nominee Mescal.
She said, “We did a film together at the beginning of last year in Australia, called Foe.
“We knew each other sort of in passing before, just through friends.”
The Little Women star continued, “We’ve become very, very close since making the film.”
Ronan said her friendship with the Normal People star isn’t just for show.
“We’re genuine friends; we’re not Hollywood friends,” she added.
Before starring in Foe together, Mescal and Ronan lived close to one another in West Cork.
Prior to his break-up with singer Phoebe Bridgers, Mescal purchased a holiday home in the Schull/Ballydehob area of West Cork.
Saoirse Ronan also owns a property in the area, making it the go-to hotspot among A-list Irish celebs.
Both actors are mainly based in London now, but Ronan said she will return to Ireland in the future.
