Sabrina Carpenter dropped her new single Manchild today

Sabrina Carpenter is set to take over the airwaves again this summer following the release of her new single Manchild.

The new princess of pop has swiftly become one of the most loved artists in the last year, so fans were thrilled when she dropped her brand new song this morning.

As wonderful as the song is, people couldn’t help but wonder who it was about.

All fingers instantly pointed to Carpenter’s ex-boyfriend and Irish actor, Barry Keoghan.

The couple ended their on/off relationship last year, but did the Saltburn actor inspire the singer’s latest hit?

Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Sabrina Carpenter confirmed she actually wrote it when she was still dating Keoghan.

Sabrina Carpenter told her followers about the inspiration behind Manchild.

“I wrote Manchild on a random Tuesday with Amy and Jack, not too long after finishing Short n’ Sweet, and it ended up being the best random Tuesday of my life.

“Not only was it so fun to write, but this song became to me something I can look back on that will score the mental montage to the very confusing and fun young adult years of life,” she shared.

Carpenter continued,”It sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll, and it feels like a never-ending road trip in the summer! Hence why I wanted to give it to you now- so you can stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long!”

She concluded, “Thank you always and forever for listening and thank you men for testing me!!”

Why did Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan break-up?

Sabrina Carpenter started dating Barry Keoghan in late 2023, but they didn’t make their first public appearance until March 2024.

The couple ended their relationship in December because they both wanted to focus on their careers.

An insider told People that the pair ended things to focus on their careers.

“They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break,” the source said.
