The album cover has left fans divided

Sabrina Carpenter has been met with backlash after revealing the artwork for her new album, Man’s Best Friend.

The star left fans in shock as she announced she’s due to drop a whole new album little over a year after her smash hit record Short ‘n Sweet dropped.

“My new album, Man’s Best Friend, is out on August 29, 2025,” she wrote in a post on Instagram.

“I can’t wait for it to be yours x.”

Despite the announcement of a whole album of new music, the focus of fans turned mainly to the album artwork itself.

The image Sabrina has chosen is one of her on her knees in a black dress and black heels, as a man stands over her and grabs a fistful of her hair. She is also holding her hand out towards his knee.

The second image to be released from the album shows a baby blue collar around a dog’s neck, with a tag that reads ‘Man’s Best Friend’.

There has been a divided reaction to the new album artwork, with many fans criticising the star for posing on her knees as a man towers over her.

“Love Sabrina – but this picture – why is the man in there like that? It’s not a very empowering image for women,” one person wrote.

Another penned: “Does anybody else find this cover really disturbing?”

A third put: “Is this a humiliation ritual? WTH is this cover.”

“I don’t wanna see no man dragging you around by your hair mother please get up,” a fourth penned.

“This is just degrading,” a fifth wrote.

However, not everyone was disgruntled by the imagery, and instead focussed on the excitement for the new music.

“Sabrina is coming for album of the year, artist of the year, pop vocal album, all of it and I’m here for it,” one person wrote.

A second put: “Sabrina summer here we go. She’s so back guys.”
