He might be celebrating a number one with his catchy song, Candy, but some people will aren’t too impressed with Robbie’s recent behaviour.

The cheeky singer is known for rubbing people up the wrong way and this time it’s a group of OAPs who are less than happy with some recent comments Robbie made.

The UK National Pensioners Convention have spoken out and said they weren’t pleased with the comments Robbie made on Graham Norton’s chat-show at the weekend.

Graham mentioned to Robbie that the image of Robbie punching an old lady in the video for Candy took him aback: “That’s quite a shocking image isn’t it?”

“It is, isn’t it?” Robbie replied, “They wanted me to kick a dog and I’m an animal lover, so I was just not having that. Then they said ‘punch a pensioner’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m in.'”

But Dot Gibson, general secretary of the NPC, wasn’t impressed with Robbie at all.

“Celebrities should think twice before making ageist comments which seem to imply that pensioners should be treated in a degrading way,” she said.

“Elder abuse is a serious issues and needs to be tackled…the phrase was probably ironic, but it just gives the wrong impression that animals are to be treated with greater respect that older people.”

It looks like one elderly lady still has a soft spot for Robbie…

Robbie’s spokesperson had a bit of cleaning up to do and saidd to The Telegraph: “Robbie Williams does not condone violence in any way…he was playing a particular role in the video.”

But Robbie’s still loved by thousands, as Oxford Street was thronged last night as he switched on the Christmas lights alongside former X Factor winner Leona Lewis.

And so the countdown begins… but Robbie, you’d want to keep on running!
